Miley Cyrus sing “The Climb” on Disney+? Talk about a full loop moment. The pop star revisits the 2009 track in her new “Endless Summer Vacation (Backyard Sessions)” special, which hit Disney+ on March 10. Although the musical event focuses on Cyrus discussing and performing songs from her eighth studio album for the first time, she slips into a rendition of “The Climb” to celebrate her 14th birthday, much to the chagrin of our tear ducts without mistrust.
Dressed in a yellow minidress, Cyrus continues the moving ballad on the roof of Frank Sinatra’s old house in Hollywood. Watching her sing the opening verse — “I can almost see it, this dream I’m dreaming / But there’s a voice in my head that says, you’ll never reach it” — is particularly poignant because she has transcended these words. Cyrus has achieved that dream she dreamed of at the time, evolving from child star to music icon, and most recently topping the Billboard charts for six weeks in a row with her single “Flowers.”
