Melissa Joan Hart lives in Nashville, and she was at the scene just outside the Covenant School on Monday, March 27, after a shooter killed three children and three adults. Melissa took to Instagram on March 28 to share a video of herself breaking down in tears as she recalled helping young children to safety amid the shooting. “My children go to school right next to where there was a shooting today,” she explained. “We moved here from Connecticut where we were at a school a bit off Sandy Hook. So this is our second experience with a school shooting with our children nearby.
The actress confirmed that she and her three children — Mason17 years, Braden15, and Tucker, 10 — everything is fine. However, the shooting was way too close to home. “My husband and I were on our way to school for lectures and we helped a kindergarten class through a busy highway out of the woods trying to escape the shooting situation at their school,” said she explained. “We helped all these little kids cross the road and bring their teachers there. We helped a mother find her children. I do not know what to say anymore. Enough is enough. Just pray for the families.
All six victims of Monday’s shooting were allegedly randomly targeted by a 28-year-old shooter Audrey Haleby CNN. The 28-year-old was a former student at the school she assaulted, and police confirmed she was in care for an “emotional disorder” at the time of the shooting. Police at the scene shot and killed Audrey to end her killing spree. A motive has not been confirmed, but police believe Audrey specifically targeted the Covenant School.
The Nashville community is absolutely devastated after the tragedy, with stars who live in the area flooding social media with tributes. Many also donated money to families of victims during this difficult time.
