The police arrested Jonathan Majors for allegedly assaulting a woman in New York over the weekend.

Details are still ongoing after his arrest reportedly took place around 11 a.m. ET in Manhattan on Saturday. TMZ reports that police have taken Majors into custody on “charges of strangulation, assault and harassment.”
According to law enforcement, the unknown woman has been identified as Major’s girlfriend. The alleged victim complained that he got into a heated argument during a cab ride from a Brooklyn bar on Friday night.
According to TMZ, the woman confronted Majors about texting another woman and tried to check her phone. She claimed Majors grabbed her hand and slapped her as things escalated.
The alleged victim said the altercation didn’t end there, saying it escalated into Creed III actor putting his hands around his neck. After parting for the night, the woman reported a crime to police on Saturday morning.
TMZ also reports that the alleged victim had visible injuries “including a laceration behind the ear, redness and facial marks.” She was taken to an area hospital and is in stable condition.
Sources say police released Majors from custody the same day. Reps for the hit star reacted to the news, defending his innocence.
“He didn’t do anything wrong. We look forward to clearing his name and clarifying this,” the statement read.
News of Majors’ arrest and alleged assault has already sent shockwaves across the internet. After starring in two of the biggest movies of 2023, he’s quickly become one of Hollywood’s hottest names. Press tours for both projects earned him a massive following of devoted fans.
