Rachel Zegler will star in Y2K

21-year-old star Rachel Zegler has been cast in upcoming comedy disaster “Y2K.”

The American ‘West Side Story’ actress and singer features in a star-studded ensemble that also includes Jaeden Martell, Julian Dennison and Mason Gooding.

The film is directed by Kyle Mooney and the cast is rounded out by Alicia Silverstone, Lachlan Watson, The Kid Laroi, Tim Heidecker, Eduardo Franco, Miles Robbins, Fred Hechinger and Daniel Zolghadri.

The film is set on New Year’s Eve 1999 and follows two high school students (Martell and Dennison) as they decide to throw the last big party before the new millennium.

When the clock strikes midnight, the party gets crazier than they could have ever imagined.

Evan Winter wrote the film’s script and produced with Jonah Hill, Matt Dines and Ali Goodwin.

Rachel stars in the new superhero sequel ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods as Anthea and revealed it came at the perfect time in her career as she struggled to find acting work during the coronavirus pandemic.

“I needed a job. I’m so serious. The reality was that we were in the middle of a pandemic and I wasn’t working. I couldn’t find a job all my life because “West Side Story” hadn’t come out yet.

“It was really hard to book work for me, so I was really excited when it hit my inbox. I love the first movie, and the fact that they even wanted me back for an encore. , then a chemistry reading and everything. I’m so lucky to have gotten this job.”

Rachel Zegler is an American actress and singer who rose to prominence for playing the role of Maria in Steven Spielberg’s 2021 film adaptation of the musical “West Side Story.” Zegler, of Colombian and Polish descent, was selected from more than 30,000 auditions for the role.

Prior to his breakout role on “West Side Story,” Zegler had earned a following on social media for his covers of popular songs. She had also starred in a high school production of “Maria” in her hometown of New Jersey.

In addition to her acting career, Zegler is also a talented singer and songwriter. She has released her own music, including the single “Let Me Be” in 2019.

Since her “West Side Story” debut, Zegler has become a rising star in Hollywood and has been involved in a number of upcoming projects, including the title role in Disney’s live-action adaptation of “Snow White.”
