Kate Garraway has posted a heartwarming update on ‘bedridden’ husband Derek Draper – after his battle with Long Covid.
The 55-year-old TV legend and her husband of nearly 20 years, Derek, have faced heartache in recent years after being hospitalized in 2020 after catching Covid.
And while he’s now back home with Kate and their children, Billy and Darcey, Derek needs round-the-clock care for his health issues.
But now Kate, who married Derek in 2005, has updated fans on how he’s been doing.
Kate Garraway shares an update on her husband
During Friday’s (March 24) episode of Good Morning Britain, Kate and co-host Ben Shephard headlined the ITV show.
The couple welcomed actor Brian Cox to the program and spoke to him about his hit series Succession.
My husband is largely bedridden and we have gone through everything since 2018.
Speaking on the ITV breakfast show, Kate told Brian: “My husband is largely bedridden and we’ve seen it all since 2018.”
She then joked, “We don’t want this to end.”
Kate “is going to take her husband around the world” for treatment
It comes as Kate is reportedly planning to make a “desperate bid to save Derek’s life” according to Bella magazine.
The TV star is reportedly preparing for a stricken Derek to fly around the world to undergo pioneering treatment.
Bella quotes a source as saying Kate wants to go ahead with the medical option because she thinks it’s “her last hope”.
Kate previously revealed that Derek had already traveled to Mexico for a clinical trial in 2021, and returned in 2022.
Bella reports that Kate’s husband was offered the ‘could be life-changing’ treatment after an American doctor saw Kate’s documentary Finding Derek.
He spent 28 days in Mexico for this, which was later described in the follow-up program Caring For Derek.
“She is ready to try everything”
The insider alleged to Bella, “This is truly Kate’s desperate attempt to try and save Derek’s life and she’s willing to try anything.
“She looked at a number of experimental medical options around the world. Particularly in Mexico to try to save it from the devastating effects of Covid-19.
“Kate only wants the best for Derek. She wants to try because she feels like it’s her last hope.
A representative for Kate declined to comment on Bella’s article.
