Eva Longoria excoriated by Young And The Restless Co-Star after smoking soaps!

Eva Longoria hears it from a former soap opera co-star about a remark she made as she sat down for an interview with a TV host Chris Wallace!

THE Desperate Housewives alum was on Wallace HBO Max-slash-CNN series of interviews Who talks to Chris Wallace this week. She immersed herself in her work in front of the camera, as well as her role as a political ambassador and surrogate for the Democrats for much of the show.

But she also opened up about her early career in El Lay and what it took for her to succeed in Hollywood. And that’s where Eva stumbled badly – at least according to one of her elders. The young and the restless co-stars!

So, during a short stint early in her on-air career, Eva played Isabella Braña in that aforementioned long-running TV drama. She was in over 300 episodes of the popular SCS show over three years from 2001 to 2003, according to IMDb. Then, she left for greener pastures – the most famous Desperate Housewivesof course – and a long career in the brightest lights of Tinseltown!

Wallace asked Longoria about this early career during their interview. Eva revealed how she was actually working full-time on set while simultaneously shooting scenes for the The young and the restless:

“When I moved to Hollywood, I had my bachelor’s degree. And when I said to my mom, ‘I’m going to be an actress,’ she was fine, because I had graduated from college. Like, as long as I had finished college. So I knew I could get a job. I was like, ‘Well, I’ll get a job.’ I went to a temp agency and they hired me. I was so good at it, that when I got the The young and the restless, it did not bring me enough to live to be an actor. So I continued to be a headhunter and [filming] THE The young and the restless.”

Wow!

It is commendable. It takes a serious effort to do that!!

But it’s what she said next — comments in which she honestly very clearly shaded the mainline soap opera series — that really pissed some people off:

“I would hide the fact that I was on the The young and the restless to my clients, because they didn’t want some stupid actress handling their accounts. One of my clients once said to me, “You look like a girl I saw on a soap opera. And I was like, ‘no, that’s not me, I don’t know who that is.’ I was like the opposite of a publicist’s dream. I was like, ‘don’t tell anybody I’m on this show.’ Because I was making even more money with my day job.

Oh oh ! It’s not a good thing to bite the hand that feeds you, as the saying goes. After all, he was one of the places where the longtime star got his start in Hollywood. You know??

This is where the veteran daytime drama star Eric Braden between. Braeden is known to soap opera fans around the world for playing Victor Newman on the The young and the restless. And when he got wind of Longoria’s comment over the weekend, he started to Twitter on Sunday afternoon to snatch a new one from him.

He started by tweeting:

“EVA LONGORIA: You have just made disparaging remarks about daytime actors! You just weren’t good enough to survive the pressures of this medium! You were very lucky to participate in this “housewife” show! You made a show in 8-12 days, with mediocre but salacious dialogues! Our actresses should run around you!! And they did then!! From Robert de Nero [sic] whoever they are, many of them started in the milieu you denigrate! This shows a complete lack of class!!

Wow!

Then, when a follower asked for more action context, he added:

” They [soap opera actresses] the act rings around her! They only stay if the [sic] have the chops to back up their beauty! She only has the latter!”

OUCH!!!

Then, when another follower asked if Eva should apologize for her comments to Chris Wallace, Braeden further clarified her comments:

“She doesn’t need to apologize!” I simply reacted to hearing this while watching CNN and CHRIS WALLACE, whom I respect! But when the medium of soap is denigrated by anyone, I will sue them! It’s the toughest medium for an actor, PERIOD!!! Be proud of it!!!”

Say what you will about his comments towards Eva, but at least he backed them up and didn’t back down when called out by Twitter followers. You know? But still… shit, man!

BTW, you can watch the exact Wallace-Longoria segment that upset Braeden in the first place (below):
