Scream 7 Release, Cast, and What We Know So Far

Ghostface is back for another kill in Cry 6 and this time he’s in the Big Apple. In the latest installment, the multi-identity masked killer returns to hunt down the four survivors of Cry 5. Cry 6 opened to the series’ best weekend box office yet, grossing $44 million in its first few days.

With such success, it seems obvious that another Scream movie is on the way, but a new entry in the series hasn’t been announced, officially. With that in mind, here’s everything we know about what Cry 7 might look like, including what Cry 6 the management team says:

[Ed. note: This story contains spoilers for Scream 6.]

Will there be a Scream 7?

Probably, but it’s not confirmed. While a new slasher sequel is always likely, and doubly likely when the current iteration opens as strongly at the box office as Cry 6 fact, Paramount still hasn’t made an official announcement about the franchise’s next installment.

When will Scream 7 be released?

Whether Cry 7 is really on the way, and if it comes from the team at Radio Silence who made the last two, then it’s probably going to take a little longer than the ridiculously quick 14 months it took between Cry 5 And 6. Speaking to Polygon, co-directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett said they wanted more time if they were going to make a Shout 7. “I don’t know if we could have been successful if it wasn’t with the same group of people. [that made Scream 5]”, said Gillette.

Will Jenna Ortega be in Scream 7?

Probably! Since she survives the onslaught of killers in Cry 7and that she’s the biggest star on the show right now, it seems pretty likely that Jenna Ortega will return for Cry 7.

Who else will be in Scream 7?

The “Core Four” seem certain to return for another Scream sequel should it ever come out, but the rest of the cast are a bit more up in the air. Courtney Cox’s reporter character, Gale Weathers, also survived this movie, meaning she could be back for another entry in the franchise. Meanwhile, Neve Campbell, who plays franchise star Sidney Prescott, jumped on Cry 6 due to apparent contractual disagreements, but there is a possibility that she will also return in the future.
