‘New Girl’ is leaving Netflix next month

‘Who is this girl?’ Whoever she is, she won’t be on Netflix for very long!

“New Girl,” Fox’s cult series starring Zooey Deschanel, Hannah Simone, Max Greenfield, Jake Johnson, Lamorne Morris and later Megan Fox, racked up a decade-long post-run on Netflix. However, “New Girl” will soon leave for new horizons; the series, which originally aired from 2011 to 2018, will leave Netflix next month.

Netflix has had a tough year. The once-leading streaming service has seen a decline in popularity following massive employee layoffs, multiple show cancellations and unpopular efforts to curb password sharing.

Inside Netflix’s Controversial Efforts to Reduce Password Sharing

The Blast covered many elements of Netflix’s difficult year in 2022.

Last month, the streaming service came under fire after a list of password-sharing stipulations went viral on social media. Efforts to crack down on password sharing have begun to be implemented by the company internationally, but Netflix has yet to roll out a plan for the United States.

Forbes Australia’s original report on the rules said users had to log into their account from their primary WiFi network once a month. Failure to do so will result in the user being locked out and unable to access their account.

This rule would still apply even if users were away from their main account for a period of time, for example if they were on vacation. Users would then receive a temporary login code that would be valid for seven days.

An anonymous source from Netflix later responded to the viral conversation and revealed that the list of stipulations was posted and posted on their official help center by mistake.

“Yesterday, for a brief period, a Help Center article containing new information applicable only to Chile, Costa Rica and Peru was posted online in other countries,” the source explained. “We’ve since updated it.”

Netflix also announced plans for a “paid sharing option”, which should be released by the end of the first quarter of 2023.

“While our Terms of Service limit the use of Netflix to one household, we recognize that this is a change for members who share their account more widely, so we have been working hard to create new features that enhance the Netflix user experience, including the ability for members to check which devices are using their account and transfer a profile to a new account,” reads a CBS News report, according to The Blast’s report on viral news.
