The little Mermaid star Halle Bailey caused a stir as the latest Celebrity Ambassador at the 16th annual Disney Dreamers Academy, where 100 extraordinary students enjoyed an all-expenses-paid trip to Walt Disney World for career-focused workshops, leadership seminars and presentations by celebrity guests, community leaders, educators, and Disney executives.

The 4-day program is designed to broaden career awareness and create opportunities for the diversity of students who were thrilled to share their unique experience with Bailey.

As a celebrity ambassador, Bailey starred in the welcome parade, cheered on students with empowering speeches, and surprised two aspiring teenage filmmakers with a personal invitation to join her on the red carpet at The little Mermaidworld premiere in Hollywood.

Atlanta’s Dylan Jones and Los Angeles’ Madison Henderson were in the middle of a film production training session when Bailey made a surprise appearance to deliver the personal invitation to the premiere. For the students, it was a truly magical dream come true moment.

Since 2008, Disney Dreamers Academy has inspired more than 1,400 students from across the country by showing them a world of possibilities as they prepare for their future. Graduates became doctors, storytellers, engineers, graphic designers, journalists, and more, with some becoming mentors to the Disney Dreamers who followed them.
