What happened to Redman in Power Book II: Ghost?

“Power Book II: Ghost” has been known to throw a curve ball (or more) at viewers from time to time, and season three, which premiered on March 17, is no exception. So far, new characters have been introduced, while another has reappeared after apparently being killed. But viewers are saddened to see that a familiar face hasn’t returned for the new season.

The second season of the hit Starz drama introduced defense attorney Davis MacLean’s (Method Man) brother Theo Rollins, who is in jail for charging the rogue attorney with manslaughter. That season, Theo was played by rap icon and well-known Method Man collaborator Redman.

Method Man – who starred with Redman in 2001’s ‘How High’ and collaborated with him on ‘Blackout!’ album series – reflected on his reunion with Redman in “Power Book II: Ghost” in a recent interview with Vibe Magazine, attributing the nostalgic idea to “Power” creator and former showrunner Courtney Kemp. “Before she even finished her sentence, I was more or less like, ‘Say less. I got ’em. Let’s get him in,'” he told the publication. “It’s always great to work with someone you’ve worked with over the years, but not someone you’ve always worked with, but someone you trust when it comes to performance on stage and things like that. So every time you put Redman and Method Man on screen together, not only will you get chemistry, but you’ll get synergy, as well as professionalism.”

Although Redman’s character returns in season three, fans were quick to point out that the rapper himself hasn’t reprized the role, as he was apparently replaced by a new face in episode three. . So why isn’t Redman back for the third season of ‘Power Book II: Ghost’? Here’s what we know so far.

Why did Redman leave “Power Book II: Ghost”?

Neither “Power Book II: Ghost” showrunner Brett Mahoney, executive producer 50 Cent, nor Redman himself has released a statement about the rapper’s revamping role in season three. Starz representatives could not be reached for comment. While the reason for Redman’s absence is unclear, viewers are still demanding an explanation from the show.

“Come on #Power y’all really thought you could change Redman’s character and we wouldn’t notice as black viewers,” a Twitter user wrotewhile another tweeted“😒😒🙁 Yeah I don’t know if I want to watch this anymore. smh. I was really looking forward to Redman playing Theo. smh.”

Who plays Theo Rollins in ‘Power Book II: Ghost’ Season 3?

For those who may be wondering, actor Jordan Mahome took on Redman’s role as Theo in the third episode of season three. He appears in a scene with Shane Johnson’s Cooper Saxe, who is investigating Theo’s case on behalf of his colleague Davis, as the two discuss evidence suggesting he is locked up because he covered up his brother’s misdeeds .

According to Davis, his brother covered for him because he could have faced jail time at the age of 21 for killing a cop’s brother. Theo made a plea deal so that Davis could continue his studies at Columbia Law, although the lawyer did not realize that this would result in his brother, who suffers from hepatitis, staying in prison for so long.

Mahome may be a familiar face to some, having previously starred in TV shows like ‘Ray Donovan’, ‘The Get Down’, ‘The Punisher’ and ‘For Life’. Whether or not he will appear as Theo in future episodes of “Power Book II: Ghost” remains to be seen.

New episodes of “Power Book II: Ghost” air on Fridays.
