Upcoming Apple pop-up from NewJeans: See the fan chant

When I connected with NewJeans ahead of the release of “OMG” for that same column in January, neither of us knew how huge the song would become. Granted, the girl group was already in full swing — “Hype Boy” was taking over TikTok, “Watch Out” had lived up to its name, and the group of five was gearing up for the next step. “OMG” and its B-side, “Ditto,” both exploded upon release.

Now, NewJeans (Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein) are giving listeners the chance to immerse themselves in the magic of “OMG” in a new way through a pop-up featuring Apple. Coinciding with the opening of Apple Gangnam in Seoul, South Korea in a few days, this collaboration will give fans (we landed on the fandom name “Bunnies”, right?) an exclusive glimpse of “OMG (Apple Music Edition)”, which benefits from the additional functionality of Spatial Audio. The lucky ones who are in Seoul in the next few days can register here.

This news comes on the heels of another incredibly exciting announcement for NewJeans, which is that they will be the first K-pop girl group to appear at Lollapalooza this summer. The festival slot marks their first performance in the United States Never, too, promising another boost to the band’s already incredible global footprint. Let’s remember that it hasn’t even been a year since NewJeans debuted – there really hasn’t been another band that has been able to tap into audiences so quickly in their history, and the best part is that the music supports everything.

Maybe if we’re lucky, this pop-up is something that can lead to future NewJeans experiences around the world.
