In solidarity with the countries affected by the earthquake, Turkey and Syria, SM Foundation Inc. (SMFI) sent aid through the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) on February 27, 2023.

Represented by Connie Angeles, Executive Director of SM Foundation Health and Medical Programs, SMFI handed over 200 gasoline-powered generators to the PRC to supply electricity to earthquake-stricken Turkey and Syria.

Additionally, SM’s social arm also donated Php 5 million to help meet the needs of earthquake victims.

The aid comes after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit southeastern Turkey and northwestern Syria. The disaster was followed by a 6.3 magnitude earthquake, hitting southern Turkey, which caused additional casualties and damage.
