Meyers eagerly awaits photos of Trump’s arrest

Twice-impeached former President Donald Trump has yet to be arrested, but Seth Meyers is glued to his phone waiting for photos from his time. Of course, it’s not just about wanting to see Trump held accountable; Meyers also really wants to see if Trump’s arms can get into the position they need to be in for him to be handcuffed.

Meyers was on vacation last week, meaning he was not on the air to cover Trump’s claims that he would be arrested last Tuesday. But, Meyers definitely saw them and, according to the “Late Night” host, those claims kept him from fully enjoying his free time with his family.

“Normally a break is supposed to be a vacation in the news, but I’ve been scrolling through my phone all week, waiting to see a picture of Trump dragging himself out of Mar-a-Lago in handcuffs, mostly because I thinks his arms are too stiff to reach that far behind his back,” Meyers joked.

Meyers says Trump likely celebrated the call to testify before the grand jury:

“That’s why he always stands with them by his side, like a dollar store GI Joe,” he added. “It would be super funny to see the cops trying to handcuff him. “Alright sir, put your hands behind your head!” “Sorry guys, they only move on like this.”

The “this” the “Late Night” host was referring to was, of course, the twice-impeached former president’s tendency to move his hands like an accordion when he speaks. But, Meyers offered a solution for that, if and when the time finally comes.

“They’re going to have to get him a pair of tight handcuffs that he can wear while he yells at reporters,” he joked.

That said, Meyers is still not fully convinced that charges against Trump will come anytime soon.

“One way or another, Trump always evades responsibility,” Meyers lamented. “At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if Merrick Garland put himself in jail. ‘Merrick! Merrick, why!’ I don’t know, it just – it just seemed easier!”
