Jonathan Majors was arrested Saturday morning on suspicion of strangulation, assault and harassment in New York City.
According to the NYPD, he was arrested after a domestic dispute in the Chelsea neighborhood led to a 30-year-old woman being taken to hospital with minor head and neck injuries.
In a statement to BuzzFeed News, Jonathan’s attorney, Priya Chaudhry, said the actor was “completely innocent and there is evidence that he was the victim of an altercation with a woman he knows.” .
But some have already begun to distance themselves from the actor, including the US military.
Prior to the arrest, the US military had launched a “Be All You Can Be” advertising campaign featuring Jonathan. According to a recent statement from the organization, the advertising campaign is now on hiatus.
“The U.S. military is aware of the arrest of Jonathan Majors, and we are deeply concerned about the allegations surrounding his arrest,” Laura DeFrancisco, head of public affairs for the Army Enterprise Marketing Office, said in a statement (via the Hollywood Reporter).
“While Mr. Majors is innocent until proven guilty, caution dictates that we are withdrawing our advertisements until the investigation into these allegations is complete.”
