Jake Wood could be watching rival soap Corrie after he leaves EastEnders.

Max Branning has been a long-time character on the BBC soap after first appearing in Albert Square in 2006.

However, Jake sadly retired from the show in 2021 after Max’s storyline saw him get into a violent confrontation with Linda’s husband Mick.

Since then, Jake has turned to acting and he currently stars alongside Girls Aloud star Cheryl in the 2:22 production of A Ghost Story.

This is the second time he has portrayed Ben in the play as it originally appeared in the 2021 production alongside Lily Allen.

If they asked me if I would make another soap, then I would.

But he was eager to return to the role after Hugo Chegwin was forced to step down.

During a chat on Loose Women today, Jake opened up about his time working with Cheryl in the West End play.

He said, “Cheryl is phenomenal.”

Jake added: “It’s a real privilege to see someone who is very well known in one field move on to another. And be very competent in this area!

Speaking about Jake’s exit from EastEnders, Nadia said: “You might be on your way to Corrie.”

Jake replied, “If they asked me if I would do another soap, then I would. I mean, yeah, I love Corrie, I think Corrie is a great soap opera.

He then went on to say that he had already prepared a northern accent.

Jake continued, “When I was a young actor, I did a lot of northern parts as well. Yeah it’s fine, Manchester is fine, it’s fine.

Jake also urged Corrie’s bosses to call him.

He added: “Yeah I love Corrie – if they’re listening give me a call.”
