Our friends at Cybersmile have announced Camila Mendes as Cybersmiler of the Month for February.
Camila Mendes was chosen for this accolade because of her personal struggles with her body image and her problematic relationship with food, both of which have affected her personal and professional life.
The 28-year-old opened up about her body image issues and relationship with food while filming The CW’s teen drama “Riverdale” that she’s faced since childhood. Due to the pressures of television and being a public figure, she realized that even watching herself perform on television made her insecure about her own body image.
As Riverdale grew in popularity, Camila, like many others in Hollywood, felt more and more pressure which began to affect how she viewed herself.
Camila was able to recognize her fears and took the brave and important step to seek help, working with a nutritionist to reintroduce foods she previously feared into her diet.
Having grown in popularity over the past few years, she now commands a global fanbase, and Camila’s decision to speak out about her struggles will no doubt resonate with many who are also affected and may be struggling to find a way out of their situation.
In receiving the Cybersmiler of the Month award, Camila Mendes joins previous winners including Selena Gomez and Lady Gaga.
