Panelists shared their personal experiences while leading conversations about empowerment in the film industry as well as the challenges and opportunities for women in film, how the industry can continue its progress towards gender equality , and the movie Couples Christmas retreat.
The film follows three couples who attend a retreat hoping to strengthen their respective relationships under the guidance of a famous therapist, Dr. Fiona Gerard (Vanessa Meadows). The story highlights each couple’s personal and unique journey, celebrates the courage, perseverance and talent of women in film, and speaks to the vital importance of equal representation while addressing and challenging norms. society and the stereotypes that can go to their heads. .
Couples Christmas retreat is executed produced by Ron Wollaston and Vincent De Paul, co-written by Salvatore V. Zannino, Jimmy Clabots, Anthony Mormile and FD Lewis, and stars Karina Michel, Brendan Tyler Russell, Dana Jamison, Vanessa Meadows, Christene Marie, Leah Villone, Anthony DiVirgilio, Sherrod Taylor and Oscar-winning actress Margaret O’Brien.
Michel had this to say about the discussion. “It was such a pleasure to be part of the Sundance panel with Vincent and the ladies of Couples Christmas retreat. It was a wonderful setting and hearing everyone reflect on their experience of how they prepared for the roles and molded their characters into the strong women that they are.
