Everyone’s favorite Highlander wishes you a Happy St. Patrick’s Day.
The 17th of March, Foreign starSam Heughan took to Instagram to give fans a sneak peek into his plans for the popular holiday. In the new selfie, Heughan posed in front of his Sassenach Premium Blended Scotch Whiskey and wrote, “Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Let’s raise a dram to all our Celtic friends.”
But that’s not all, since he cheekily added: “Tell you what I’m going to drink… 😉SLAINTE!”
It didn’t take long for fans to send their best wishes. One fan commented, “Happy Saint Patrick…Sláinte!” Another chimed in, “Slainte 🥃 🍀”
One follower decided to crack a joke, however, adding, “I guess Jameson Black Barrel?? Just KIDDING!”
As for the Heughan’s Scotch brand, it affectionately bears his nameCaitriona Balfethe character of Claire Fraser. For those unfamiliar with the Starz series, Heughan’s Jamie Fraser calls Claire “Sassenach”, meaning an English person, throughout. Foreign.
Although Sassenach isn’t usually an affectionate term, it’s been rebranded as a pet name thanks to the epic love story at the heart of the period drama.
However, fans should be prepared to hear “Sassenach” less in the future. In January, Starz confirmed that Foreign will end with an eighth and final season.
“What an incredible journey with an amazing fanbase,” the network said. writing on Twitter at the time. “Foreign has been officially renewed for an eighth and final season.
The end is still far away, because Foreign just wrapped up its seventh season in February.
