Honor Among Thieves Selects Amazon Prime Members Early

Paramount Pictures has announced that the March 19 special screening will be exclusively for Amazon Prime members, who can purchase up to 10 tickets at more than 1,200 theaters nationwide at Amazon.com/DungeonsandDragonsMovie. It’s a small perk for Prime members, and it’ll be interesting to see if other streaming or subscription services start running similar promotions.

“Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves” is based on the tabletop role-playing game Wizards of the Coast, where friends gather around the table (or, in recent years, a Zoom call) and tell grand adventures together in using the rules laid out by the playbooks, all under the control of the dungeon master. Playing D&D is great fun, but previous attempts to bring that fun to the big screen have been pretty spotty as they don’t seem to understand the joy in the game’s messy chaos. “Honor Among Thieves,” starring Chris Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Hugh Grant and many others seem to lean a little more into the more silly aspects while being totally serious. A D&D film that wears its heart on its sleeve and has comedic support from “Game Night” writers and directors Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daly? Yes please.

If this sounds like something you want to check out beforehand without needing a special Charisma modifier, check out the Amazon Prime promotion and head to theaters March 19 for this special screening. If not, I’ll see you all in theaters on March 31. I’ll be the one in the wizard’s robes.
