Over 6,000 participants, from casual and serious runners to fitness enthusiasts, groups of friends and families, joined Watsons Race for Wellness on Sunday 5th March. The event marks the brand’s enduring commitment to becoming the ultimate health and beauty partner for Filipinos. Watsons helps Filipinos achieve a balanced lifestyle with its holistic solutions, products and services for all medical and wellness needs.

A healthy lifestyle has many benefits. It reduces the risk of diseases, prolongs life, improves mood and makes you look your best. This can be achieved in a number of ways: eating healthy foods like fruits and vegetables, reducing sugar, salt and fat intake, and staying active.[1]

With the Race for Wellness, participants have chosen between the 5K, 10K and 21K categories, all of which have surprises along the course. Runners were energized by the drum beaters and cheers as they raced through the Pinoy and Wellness Zone themed obstacles. Apart from these, foam and water party stations have also been set up. “Kuya Kim” Atienza, celebrity endorser of Watson-branded vitamin B complex, and Geneva Cruz were also spotted having fun while taking on the challenges. An award ceremony was organized for all the category finishers who finished the race in the shortest possible time.

The health and wellness partner of Filipinos

Watsons leads the way in promoting and providing access to holistic health and wellness solutions, expert care, advice and a health literacy platform. The health and beauty retailer achieves this through its broad and comprehensive line of vitamins, supplements, over-the-counter and prescription medications, personal care products and other essentials. All of this is available at affordable prices.

Customers can access these products through Watsons network of over 1,000 stores in the Philippines, all staffed by trained pharmacists and specialists to provide expert care and advice. The Watsons Health Hub is an online one-stop-shop that offers subscription plans, lab and diagnostic tests, teleconsultations, and more.

Watsons also facilitates access to medicines and other essentials. Customers can shop and collect their orders from the store of their choice in 30 minutes or less via Click & Collect Express, or have them delivered to their doorstep via Home Delivery Express.

Finally, Watsons also promotes health and wellness literacy through information and education programs, in partnership with the DOH and medical associations.

Asked about what’s next after Race for Wellness, De Guzman shares: “At Watsons, we recognize that health and wellness comes in many different forms, so we strive to cater to diverse interests and needs. Today it’s all about running, but in the coming months it could be about biking, dancing, practicing mental wellness, and the list goes on.

“This summer, for example, we will be focusing on how Watsons can partner with all Filipinos when it comes to their complete summer essentials for health and wellness. There’s plenty in store that we’re excited to share soon. And it’s all in line with our goal of creating an accessible and inclusive space for health,” he concludes.
