Los Angeles Expands To Two-Part Series Finale With Special Recap

CBS extends NCIS: Los AngelesSending two episodes in order to give a good farewell to the long-running detective series. Originally scheduled to end on May 14, the series will now have one more episode on May 21 at 9 p.m., continuing the plot of the finale. Additionally, CBS will present a entertainment tonight special recap titled NCIS Tribute: Los Angeles which traces the history of the series. The hour-long special will air after the final episode.


The final two episodes, titled “New Beginnings, Part 1” and “Part 2”, will see the ATF seek help from the NCIS elite when an agent goes missing. They are tasked with tracking down the agent as well as stolen military-grade weapons. Further details on Part 2 are being kept under wraps, but the first episode will fix some individual issues for Agents. Callen (Chris O’Donnell) and Anna (Bar Paly) will finalize their wedding plans, Roundtree’s (Caleb Castille) his sister will be interviewing for medical school, and Sam (LL cool J) will push his father to participate in the drug trial.

NCIS: Los Angeles will gracefully retire when the time comes, capping its historic run with season 14 as the highest-rated scripted program in its Sunday 10 p.m. timeslot with 6.08 million viewers to watch on average. The series is the first spin-off of the beloved parent show NCIS and has remained a mainstay of CBS programming since its inception with a two-part special in 2009. With the finale, the series will air a staggering 322 episodes. For 14 years the team which currently includes O’Donnell, LL Cool J and Castille alongside Linda Hunt, Daniela Rouah, Eric Christian Olsen, Rahimi MedalAnd Gerald McRaney as stars undertook dangerous missions and went into deep hiding in the name of protecting national security.

“Ending a series is always bittersweet”, showrunner and executive producer R. Scott Gemmill said in an official statement. “We were blessed to have 14 seasons together, so finishing it satisfactorily was extremely difficult after so many years. Thankfully, CBS was kind enough to give us an extra episode in order to send our characters off a way befitting their stories, which I hope fans will find both satisfying and hopeful.”

HEY will also open the vault to reveal a load of behind-the-scenes material and reflect on past interviews with cast members, making it a showcase of all things NCIS: THE for fans.
