If you had the chance to discover your life’s true potential – but risk ruining the life you’ve already built for yourself – would you take it? That’s the question plaguing Chris O’Dowd’s Dusty in the first Apple TV+ trailer The price of the big door (premiering Wednesday, March 29).
Based on the novel of the same name by MO Walsh, The price of the big door “tells the story of a small town that is forever changed when a mysterious machine appears in the general store, promising to reveal the true life potential of every resident,” according to the official logline. THE Bridesmaids The vet plays Dusty Hubbard, “a seemingly content and cheerful family man and high school teacher” who “watches everyone around him re-evaluate his life choices and ambitions – based on impressions from the machine – and is forced to wonder if he’s really as happy as he once thought. While he remains skeptical of the machine, his wife, Cass (played by A dark lady sketch show‘s Gabrielle Dennis), indulges in the dream that there is something bigger out there for her.
“Like many residents of Deerfield, the couple lived a relatively safe and simple life, until the arrival of the Morpho machine,” the synopsis continues. “However, all of that is about to change as the community is forced to come to terms with its unrealized accomplishments in pursuit of a brighter future.”
Rounding out the set, Ally Maki (Destroy), Josh Segarra (The two others), Damon Gupton (Black Lightning), Crystal Fox (The haves and the have-nots), Djoliet Amara (Superman and Lois) and newcomer Sammy Fourlas.
Written by Emmy winner David West Read (Schitt’s Creek), the 10-episode comedy-drama will debut with three episodes on March 29, followed by a new episode every Wednesday through May 17.
