No politics during the Super Bowl !

This year’s Super Bowl game promises a game for the ages.

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes may be nursing a sprained ankle, but few athletes are ready for big-game heroics like the 27-year-old star.

The Philadelphia Eagles smashed their way to Glendale, Arizona, crushing a strained Giants squad as well as a depleted 49ers squad.

And that’s what the American public can’t wait to see on Sunday.

What they don’t want, and a poll shows this very clearly, is a show interrupted by political messages and culture war campaigns.

Convention of States Action, in partnership with The Trafalgar Group, has shared a new study of more than 1,000 voters likely to have a general election.

The results were overwhelming.

  • 84.4% of voters think sporting events, like the Super Bowl, should not include political or cultural statements as part of the game and coverage, and should instead focus solely on the game.
  • 10% of voters think sporting events, like the Super Bowl, should include political or cultural statements as part of the game and coverage.
  • 5.6% of voters are unsure.

The biggest surprise, however, is how Democrats have weighed in on the matter.

  • 76.7% of Democratic voters think sporting events, like the Super Bowl, should not include political or cultural statements as part of the game and coverage, and should instead focus solely on the game. 15.6 % say political or cultural statements should be included, and 7.7% are unsure.

Mark Meckler, president of the States Convention, said in a statement that “the radical left’s obsession with subjugating all aspects of American life to their politics has found its way into our national pastimes.”

Will Super Bowl LVII heed the poll’s warning?

A quick look at some commercials prepared for Sunday suggests that nostalgia and comedy will dominate the day.

Rihanna, tasked with making halftime entertainment a sight for the eyes and ears, might stick to singing or sending a message during her performance.

Either way, the game’s ratings are expected to be massive, meaning some stars might not be able to withstand a lecture or two along the way.
