It takes a lot to break the internet these days, but announcing the reunion of the original musical high school casting is a good start.
That’s (sort of) what happened at Disney’s D23 convention, where it was revealed that the upcoming fourth season of Disney+ High School Musical: The Musical: The Series will feature a scenario where High School Musical 4: Reunion is filmed at the real East High, and the characters from the show will all be cast as extras.
Details on which actors from the original Disney Channel franchise will return to film this movie in a show remain unclear, but it’s safe to assume that Corbin Bleu – who already returned in Season 3 as an exaggerated version of himself – is a game to play.
“Corbin had such a great time this season, he said, ‘If you ever want me back, just know it’s been so much fun'” HSM:TM:TS Showrunner Tim Federle said: “So that kind of inspired me to think, ‘What if our kids go back to school and have to be extras in a movie? Our show is so absurdly meta it’s just gonna turn into Creation A day. We are really excited. But let’s clear up a false assumption for now: Although Zac Efron (July 22) and Vanessa Hudgens (June 26) both posted photos of themselves at the real East High, the photos weren’t taken for that. .
“I’ll say it’s a remarkable coincidence, but we’d love to get Zac and Vanessa and all back, so we’re actively working on that right now,” Federle said.
