This lack of direction is why DC Studios is unlikely to continue with the franchise. “Fury of the Gods” underperformed at the box office, earning just $30.5 million domestically in its opening weekend. Given its approximate budget of between $110 million and $125 million, the film is unlikely to turn a profit.

That being said, to what extent can this be blamed on Johnson? His alleged refusal to allow the JSA to appear in “Fury of the Gods” certainly caused the movie to lack proper continuity, especially considering Black Adam is Batman’s Joker from Shazam. “I think the biggest problem we have is marketing. It’s a perfect family movie, and yet a lot of families don’t realize that,” he wrote, “which is just a shame. “
