Prince William’s Role at King Charles’ Coronation Revealed!

More details on King Charles‘ coronation came out.

With the official coronation of the 74-year-old monarch just days away, the royal family is making last-minute preparations for this historic event. So far, we’ve heard a lot about the ceremony – including that Prince Harry will be in the audience and Prince George will have a special part in the big day.

But when it came to Prince William‘s role in the coronation festivities? It wasn’t entirely clear how he would account for the day. Considering he is the heir to the throne, there was no doubt that William would play a major role in the coronation on May 6! And now we finally learn what exactly that role is!

According to the Liturgy of the Coronation Service published by the Archbishop of Canterbury office and obtained by People On Sunday, Prince William will quote “The Homage of Royal Blood”. What does this imply? Basically, the Prince of Wales will pledge his loyalty and allegiance to his father during the ceremony at Westminster Abbey. After the coronation of King Charles, William will kneel before him, place his hand between the monarch’s and say “words of fidelity”:

“I, William, Prince of Wales, pledge my loyalty to you and the faith and truth that I will bring to you, as your liege of life and bodily integrity. So help me God.

The 40-year-old is the only member of the Royal Family who will pay tribute to King Charles in this way on the day. His lyrics – called The Homage of Royal Blood – are similar to a wish made by his late grandfather Prince Philip to his wife, queen elizabeth, when he became his ‘man liege of life and bodily integrity’ in 1953. Elsewhere in the service, William will step in as the royal stole and royal robe are brought to Charles. He will then help Baroness Merron and the Bishops deliver the robe to her father.

As for Prince Harry? Well, no role has been listed for him in the coronation service liturgy. But that shouldn’t come as a surprise, as reports had previously emerged that he had been “cut from the script” and would no longer be involved in Charles’ coronation after the accusations he made in his explosive memoir, Spare.
