Kanye West says he never kicked his ex-business manager out of a payday in new counter-suit… hitting back with claims their arrangement came about while he was stressed and in the midst of his divorce.
TMZ Hip-Hop obtained documents filed by Kanye and his brand Yeezy … where he claims the agreement he made with Thomas Saint-Jean is not enforceable because he signed it without the assistance of a lawyer while “deprived of sleep, stressed, anxious and under duress”.
According to the lawsuit, Ye says he met St. John around March 2022 — and they sketched out a deal that would put him on a monthly retainer of $300,000.
Kanye admits the two met during one of his many social media meltdowns — and St. John stepped in as the respected business manager who could get the ship back on track.
Although Ye admits to having signed a document with St. John in May 2022… he claims to have done so without the presence and advice of his lawyers, and as her highly publicized divorce with Kim Kardashian took a heavy toll.
Ye also says the increased encounters with the paparazzi amid the divorce caused sleep deprivation, stress and anxiety.
Ye also complains about a clause in the “barebones” OK it kept St. John from being fired for at least the first 18 months…essentially ensuring his bank account remained stacked with Ye’s funds.
Their union only lasted about 3 months, but Ye is so dismayed that St. John had the nerve to sue him for $5.4 million first, he asks the judge not only to tear up the contract entirely, but also to force St. John to repay the $900,000 he has already collected.
