Tom’s blockbuster Top Gun: Maverick was up for Best Picture and scored five more nominations, but the superstar wasn’t there to support the film. Instead, Hollywood’s hardest working man was in the UK filming Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part II.

Zendaya has been a regular at the Oscars, where fans live to see what incredible outfits she wears on the red carpet. But neither the Euphoria star nor her boyfriend, Tom Hollandwere present.

Nominated for Best Actor Austin Butler flew out solo for his first Oscars, without bringing his girlfriend Kaia Gerber. He walked the champagne carpet solo and dodged questions about the whereabouts of his supermodel sweetheart when he spoke to news reports at the Oscars arrivals.

There were many surprises – and rebuffs – for this year’s nominations. Many fans were shocked when Taylor Swift was not nominated in the Best Original Song category.

“Carolina” was featured in Where the Crawdads sing, a film based on the best-selling book, and it earned Taylor nominations for the Golden Globes, Critics Choice Awards, Grammy Awards and Satellite Awards. The track, which was written by the singer and produced by her and Aaron Desnerwas on the shortlist to be nominated for an Oscar before the official list was released.

Selena Gomez“My Mind and Me” from his documentary of the same name was also dropped from the Best Song category. Despite Ryan Reynolds banging his friend Hugh Jackman to help campaign for him and Will Ferrellthe song “Good Afternoon” by Fiery to be nominated, he was also absent from the list.

Although Brendan Fraser was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role, His Motion Picture, The whale, did not itself earn a spot in Best Picture. Brendan did an incredible job in the heartbreaking film, but he’s up against some serious competition for Best Actor, including Austin Butler (Elvis); Colin Farrel (The Banshees of Inisherin); Paul Mescal (After Sun) And Bill Nighy (Life).

As for Best Actress in a First Motion Picture, Viola Davis is considered the biggest snub of the year, as his performance in The female king has been overlooked. The nominees in the competition category are Cate Blanchett (Tar); Ana de Armas (Blond); Andrea Riseborough (To Leslie); michelle williams (The Fabelmans) And michelle yeo (Anywhere Anytime).
