Nominated for Best Actor Austin Butler flew out solo for his first Oscars, without bringing his girlfriend Kaia Gerber. He walked the champagne carpet solo and dodged questions about the whereabouts of his supermodel sweetheart when he spoke to news reports at the Oscars arrivals.
There were many surprises – and rebuffs – for this year’s nominations. Many fans were shocked when Taylor Swift was not nominated in the Best Original Song category.
“Carolina” was featured in Where the Crawdads sing, a film based on the best-selling book, and it earned Taylor nominations for the Golden Globes, Critics Choice Awards, Grammy Awards and Satellite Awards. The track, which was written by the singer and produced by her and Aaron Desnerwas on the shortlist to be nominated for an Oscar before the official list was released.
Selena Gomez“My Mind and Me” from his documentary of the same name was also dropped from the Best Song category. Despite Ryan Reynolds banging his friend Hugh Jackman to help campaign for him and Will Ferrellthe song “Good Afternoon” by Fiery to be nominated, he was also absent from the list.
Instead, nominees for Best Original Song at the Oscars include “Applause” by Diane Warren Since say it like a woman; “Hold My Hand” by Lady Gaga And blood pop Since Top Gun: Maverick; “Lift Me Up” by Rihanna, Ryan Coogler, Ludwig Goransson And Time Since Black Panther: Wakanda Forever; “Naatu Naatu” by Mr. M. The Oscars are considered the most prestigious awards show in cinema, and the categories are notoriously difficult. Fans pointed out that many critically acclaimed sequels didn’t earn a spot in the Best Picture category, including Glass onion: a mystery at loggerheads And Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. However, Avatar: The Way of the Water earned a nomination this year.
Other Best Picture nominees include In the west, nothing is new, The Banshees of Inisherin, Elvis, Everything everywhere all at once, The Fabelmans, Tar, Top Gun: Maverick, triangle of sadness And women who talk.
Although Brendan Fraser was nominated for Best Actor in a Leading Role, His Motion Picture, The whale, did not itself earn a spot in Best Picture. Brendan did an incredible job in the heartbreaking film, but he’s up against some serious competition for Best Actor, including Austin Butler (Elvis); Colin Farrel (The Banshees of Inisherin); Paul Mescal (After Sun) And Bill Nighy (Life).
As for Best Actress in a First Motion Picture, Viola Davis is considered the biggest snub of the year, as his performance in The female king has been overlooked. The nominees in the competition category are Cate Blanchett (Tar); Ana de Armas (Blond); Andrea Riseborough (To Leslie); michelle williams (The Fabelmans) And michelle yeo (Anywhere Anytime).
